NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM VIENNA ANTHROPOLOGY Human evolution precisely staged

Projekte > NATURHISTORISCHES MUSEUM

At the Natural History Museum Vienna, the anthropology exhibition shows the development of humankind up to the Neolithic period. Sehner Precision Display Cases realised special display cases, curved glass solutions and interactive exhibition elements.

Vienna, Austria
Großvitrinen im Riesensaal Dresden mit historischen Harnischen und integrierter Klima- und Lichttechnik von Sehner Precision Display Cases.

The exhibition combines scientific content with modern museum technology. Cylindrically curved column display cases and wall display cases glazed on three sides present the development of hominids in chronological order. Special highlights include a walkable floor glazing with fossil footprints and a glass family tree. A massive acrylic glass wall with laser-engraved 3D skulls visualises the complex evolution of humankind.

01
CURVED GLASS FORMS
Cylindrical display cases and curved glass barriers required precise glass fabrication and stress-free installation.
02
COMPLEX LIGHT STAGING
Lighting design and material transparency had to be coordinated with technical precision.
03
INTERACTIVE COMMUNICATION
Hands-on stations had to make scientific content accessible even for visually impaired visitors.
04
LARGE-SCALE GLASS INSTALLATION
The glass family tree placed high demands on material precision and load-bearing capacity.
Challenges
01
CURVED SPECIAL GLAZING
Cylindrically curved glass display cases were manufactured and integrated with millimetre precision.
